the world architecture festival has just announced ‘gardens by the bay‘ in singapore as the 2012 world building of the year! if you are at the festival, make sure to visit the gardens by the bay before the conclusion of your trip. designed by london-based practice wilkinson eyre, this landmark project began as a competition win in 2003 and was finally opened to the public in june of 2012. the 101 hectare development revolves around three waterfront gardens overlooking the marina reservoir with two massive greenhouses mediating the natural and built landscapes.
