warm architects has built ‘ciruelo 7’, a residential living space of 155 square meters in cancún, mexicolocated in a property of 7 x 15 meters in the outskirts of the city, the architectural program of the house distributes the space into three levels including: a living room, dining space, kitchen, backyard patio, storage room, four bedrooms, laundry room, service quarters, and a terrace.

the dense architectural program, the limiting factors of the site, and the future colliding constructions, permitted warm architects to design a space of 7 x 9 x 9 meters with an interior configuration that prioritizes the quality of the experience within the spaces and the interior perspectives. in the interior, the double ceiling height visually connects the public program on the ground floor with the private program of the second floor. the core of the stairs creates a passage of selective views throughout the house: in the first floor out to the garden, through the first floor up to the double height ceiling space, and in the second floor towards the private terrace where the natural light and ventilation endow the stairs with a sense of flow and movement.

the primary façade, which holds a view towards the street, is covered with a lattice manufactured by local carpenters. made from a tropical wood, named ‘katalox’, this lattice is able to control the accessibility of the natural light and to provide privacy to the interior.
