first prize: arata isozaki & associates from tokyo, japan
an international competition was held to select an urban plan for the redevelopment of kiev, ukraine’s perchersk neighbourhood. this central cultural district within the country’s capital city will see the development of several new buildings, along with the renovation of some already existing ones. architectural design proposals for institutions such as the center for ukrainian music, the museum of contemporary art and the ukrainian center for cinema and screen arts were accepted as part of the competition.

last week, we announced that david chipperfield architects won third prize in the competition. here’s an update on the rest of the winners.
