situated twenty minutes outside of mumbai’s bustling city center, WOHA architects has developed ‘new cuffe parade‘ a large scale complex comprising ten 64-storey residential towers and one further commercial building. centered around a ten hectare park – designed by landscapers sitetectonix – the site also includes a 75,000 square foot clubhouse, five gardens, 11 swimming pools, a cricket pitch and a host of other sporting amenities.

envisioned as a communal pleasure garden, the central parkland references the courtyards, pavilions and colonnades of traditional indian residences, while each tower is clad in an aluminum jali screen, again echoing vernacular styles. these façades establish areas of privacy, diffusing light and providing shade from the region’s hot sun.

approaching the development, an expansive courtyard filled with trees and natural foliage leads towards a shaded and welcoming entrance lobby. rising upwards, views from the residences offer panoramic views across the arabian sea.

from an environmental perspective, the glazing used in every building is of a specialized grade, designed to minimize heat gain and reduce power consumption, while every tower will feature horizontal and vertical green zones, bringing about natural cooling.

‘new cuffe parade’ is scheduled for completion by 2018.
