‘xico-parque sur 23’ emerges as a vibrant urban intervention in mexican conflictive area
the project is not only a physical space to play, but a gathering place bringing the locals together.
‘xico-parque sur 23’ designed by mexican-based office all architecture takes shape as a vibrant social and urban intervention located in the middle of a conflictive area in xico, mexico. the project set among the housing density is a field made by the neighbors, who years ago pressured the government to make it a reality. its characteristic turquoise color enhances the vitality of this new public area.

all arquitectura in collaboration with love.fútbol and the sponsorship of the pincus family foundation, have completed a public park inviting locals to interact and free up their mind. ‘xico-parque sur 23’ is not only a physical space to play, but a gathering place bringing the locals together. the intervened space is an area just to the side and the slopes of what was the xico volcano — a perfect and circular agglomerate. the design strategies focused on the area of a field that already existed, located less than 300 meters from the volcano, which is currently no longer active but is used for harvesting. 
in fact, some people in that area are ejidatarios and in harvest season one can see the heart of the volcano full of agricultural products. upon reaching the field, one enjoys nothing else but nature and sky, which crowns the space. the only ones who cross that space are the pedestrians who generate their traffic lines freely inside. 
meanwhile, a documentary was made showing the textures of the daily life of valle de chalco in the state of mexico, in the cradle of the original towns of the municipality.
