YT house by studio rear connects indoor spaces with the nature of vietnam

the YT house by studio rear is located in a small village on a relatively flat plain northwest of daklak in vietnam. the area borders on the cambodian boundary and the architecture here is mixed with many different regions. this project proposes a horizontal roof stretching along the land, which forms the under-roof area containing the functions of the house.

with the basic structure designed by studio rear to shorten the construction time, the steel structural support system plays the role of supporting the roof. two private function blocks are implanted under the roof at two gables, one side is the kitchen and toilet, the other side are two bedrooms. these two functional blocks work as the central core elements of the house, freeing up the common spaces to create a very open and light design.

the formation of a common space at the center of the house acts as a multi-dimensional connection space, on one hand, it connects two main functional blocks, on the other hand, it connects the external and internal spaces. private spaces are stretched beyond the boundary of the roof, framing a part of the landscape to regulate the microclimate and enhance the homeowner experience. the opening on the top of the roof works as a light curtain, bringing in vast amounts of natural light into the indoor spaces. overall, the design by studio rear creates a home that harmonizes with the natural context.

  • I was under the impression there are a lot of ‘creepy-crawly’ things in the tropics? …aside from uninvited humans.
