located at the crossroads of two intersecting streets in a quiet residential area of chiba prefecture of japan, the dwelling, by yuji kimura design, is structured to have the appearance of an industrial building. the client requested a concept which encompassed three simple rules. the first, to include bright and large living spaces. the second, to incorporate a balcony with privacy. and lastly, to have the home be a simple form that resembles the appearance like a factory. yuji kimura design studio addressed the following by taking in the light from the road facing wall with no obstacles in a shape that surrounds the entire site. additionally providing a more private balcony and parking lot that also serves as natural lighting. the box-shaped abode hides construction joints, however the garage and gate add detail to the refined exterior with an distinct texture. moreover, a a visual rhythm is created in the arrangement of various square windows. the interior composition consists of a loft, bedroom, living room, and a dining room. the sleeping quarters and bathroom are placed on the first floor, while the dining and a living area are situated on the second floor to take advantage of the best light.
