architect yuji tanabe has crafted several models of his projects, which are being presented as part of an exhibition in japan. titled ‘model walk’, the scaled down replicas represent seven of tanabe’s best known works — including ‘LL house’, ‘armadillo’, and ‘SAWAMURA’. the concept behind the display is that the projects have ‘walked’ from their respective sites to appear as part of the exhibition. as a result, each plinth is connected to four ‘legs’ that in turn rest on painted white feet.

they left their site…

because they are architecture, they are always rooted in the site.
because this is an exhibition, they walked with legs growing from the site.

because they are architecture, the form responds to the surrounding environment and programs.
because this is an exhibition, models are being adapted to the gallery.

because they are architecture, if it were a building that allows various people other than the building owners of the time to feel a sense of familiarity towards it, then it would indeed be inherited and passed on as architecture even should there be changes in its ownership.
