the linear form of the house ensures all rooms can enjoy great views to the garden outside.
Z_lab has completed ‘soyosorim’, a relaxing, serene guest house in south korea‘s jeju island, designed as a linear, single-story volume. set within a landscape of trees and greenery, the minimalist home seeks to immerse guests in the rich natural surroundings. floor-to-ceiling windows create a direct visual connection with the exterior, while the linear form of the house ensures all rooms can enjoy great views to the garden outside.

Z_lab has developed the outdoor spaces in collaboration with landscape architecture studio dewsong place, starting with a mini herb garden by the entrance that awakens the sense of smell. the main garden is complete with citrus trees and plenty of green space for outdoor activities. this garden is visible from the main living space, a stepped room comprising the kitchen, dining and living rooms.
the main living space features full-length openings that bring ample natural light inside the house and offer direct views of the garden outside. the living room is decorated with various objects and books that introduce guests to the gardens of jeju. at the two ends of the building, Z_lab has placed two bedrooms, where each benefits from a unique feature. the first is complete with a bathtub, placed in front of a floor-to-ceiling window so guests can enjoy views of the garden, while the second is directly connect to it.
