five international practices have presented proposals for ‘karlavagnstornet’, a skyscraper in gothenburg. the 200 meter tower, which is set to become scandinavia’s tallest building, will be visible from across the swedish city, providing the region with a distinctive landmark structure. initiated by the SERNEKE group over ten years ago, the tower is part of a larger development covering 32,000 square meters. this masterplan comprises residential accommodation, office space and a variety of retail outlets, intended to create an integrated and sustainable neighborhood.

 

in alphabetical order the five finalists are: ian simpson architects, manuelle gautrand architects – equator, SOMentasis, wingårdhs arkitektkontor and zaha hadid architects. the projects have been submitted anonymously, and the jury will announce winner of the competition on june, 17th 2014.
