40 digital artists illustrate their interpretation of anxiety for kids’ magazine

illustrating anxiety to help kids

in 2021, oxford university press (OUP) asked 8,000 children aged between 7-14 what words they’d most likely choose when talking about health and wellbeing. ‘anxiety’ was the kids’ top word choice with 21%, followed closely by ‘challenging’ and ‘isolate’.

in a bid to help young people deal with anxious feelings, singapore based magazine EYEYAH! has released its 6th collectible edition featuring 40 detailed illustrations that explore the theme of ‘anxiety’ through multiple perspectives. contributing artists and designers from singapore and 12 other countries were invited to illustrate their interpretation of what anxiety looks and feels like, its causes, positive and negative anxiety, and ways to overcome it.

do you ever feel left out? you aren’t invisible to the ones that matter.

EYEYAH!’s mission

‘the topic of anxiety could not be more relevant and there is a need to approach it from a new perspective’, says EYEYAH! ‘visuals speak directly to the sub-consciousness and trigger readers to slow down, observe, analyze and interpret each image to see how it might relate to their own lives.’

EYEYAH! is a visual edutainment magazine and accompanying educator toolkit for kids that was co-founded by tanya wilson and steve lawler. their mission is to nurture a generation of socially and environmentally conscious earthlings who are equipped with the creative skills to survive and thrive in modern society. EYEYAH! was awarded the president*s design award 2020 design of the year for ‘ground-breaking achievements in design’.
