known for his subversive installations, which include inverted electricity pylons and a partially ‘unzipped’ the facade of an old building in milan, alex chinneck has returned another transformation. the british artist has tied a knot in this twisted fire extinguisher sculpture. the painted, patinated and waxed bronze sculpture is being produced in a limited edition of 20 and will be available via the artist’s studio.

knots have become a signature stye in chinneck‘s work, who created his first indoor sculpture that incorporated this theme in 2018. it was a hand-carved broom with a handle that had a similar twisted into a knot. since then, chinneck’s ‘knotted series’ has grown to include knotted sculptures of grandfather clocks and red pillar boxes.
