with a focus on illustration and CG design, geneva-based studio chaotic atmospheres has realized a species of extra-terrestrial trees called ‘alien bonsaïs’. each of the digital artworks has been carefully conceived in the computer and generated through a multilayered interplay of various graphic softwares. the studio’s creative experimentation with geometric shapes, color, texture and light has spawned a species of botanical life that is strangely familiar, yet undeniably out-of-this-world. bright pink spikey petals bloom from the tangled knots of a similarly-colored bark; orange floral growth is spawned from a rounded root, contained in a spherical shape; crystalized plant life sprouts from a porous, membrane-like foundation. each of the creations have been given fictional personalities that correspond to a family/genus and home planet, narrating a story of these species’ past incarnations, and forming a fabricated archive of organisms sourced from various parts of the universe.
