‘ice box’ by amanda mccavour

toronto-based textile artist amanda mccavour works in developing installations or thread drawings using a sewing machine, in which she sews into a fabric that dissolves in water. her latest work ‘ice box’, consists of frost and ice crystal elements which mccavour has created out of cotton thread. through her work she explores the vulnerability of thread, along with its ability to unravel, and its strength when sewn together. referencing cut paper snowflakes, her embroidered frost crystals appear to be on the verge of dissolving as they hang by a thread.  ‘ice box’ is currently on show at MADE in toronto, canada until june 30th.
