the 2018 edition of avant garde tudela brought together an international roster of artists to beautify, restore and rejuvenate the towns tudela, arguedas and peralta in spain. curators jorge rodríguez gerada (also the initiative’s founder), arcadi poch and javier gomez vidal believe that urban art is an incomparable tool for the transformation of public space, and has an extraordinary capacity to shape the identity of a place. for this sixth edition, each participating artist worked with a different method and medium, with the aim of offering a unique and unfolding story across the urban landscape to the public.

one of the most colorful contributions to avant garde tudela this year is ‘parallel minds’, a sprawling mural by artist kenor. completed on the façade of an elementary school in the city of tudela, the painting seeks to reflect the vibrant energy of the children that the artist met there. the mural also represents kenor’s ongoing connection to electronic music. on his last day of painting, the artist even initiated a live electronic music session for the school children. eclectic and electric swatches of blue, purple, pink and green intermingle in geometric compositions, covering the face of the building and radically transforming its urban character.
