image: graham e. newhallthe whitney museum in new york has launched a series of large scale, commissioned installations on the site of its future building including the current piece by barbara kruger. this latest installation is the third in the ‘whitney on site’ series and consists of large text statements covering a variety of surfaces. the piece aims to address the social history of the site on the corner of washington and gansevoort streets in the meat packing district. in this context, the text references kruger’s own experience with the site and the neighbourhood’s shifting identity. the texts are printed on vinyl and attached to surfaces around the site.  the nearby high line provides the best views of the installation, which will continue until october 17.
