fascinated by the work of the italian engineer pierluigi nervi, israeli artist and architect ben goldstein has filled his stadium in florence with water and invited the figures from renaissance paintings to join his imaginary pool party. the black-and-white photographs of the building contrast the dim yet multicolored paints, and the bathing women and little cupids seem to enjoy the scenery.

‘sometimes in my fantasies I fill up nervi’s massive stadiums, hangars and exhibition halls with clear water, and use them as my pool,’ says goldstein. ‘I could swim there for hours staring at the reinforced concrete ceiling in admiration.’
