artist benedetto bufalino unveils a celebration soccer and community with his latest work, dubbed LABY-FOOT. the interactive installation is realized as a projection of the lines from a football field onto the labyrinth of the central in kirchberg, luxembourg. when viewed from the level of the ground, the line work appears abstracted, as a series of arbitrary white geometries. only when viewed from above does the work finally come together and take shape as a familiar image. the three dimensional geometries of the labyrinth introduce a new dimension of boundaries, obscuring the role of the lines from the field. the work will be on view outside casino luxembourg from friday june 25th through sunday september 5th, 2021.

benedetto bufalino debuts his playful LABY-FOOT installation in the garden labyrinth at kirchberg’s casino luxembourg. the artist comments on the effect of the line work projected in three dimensions: ‘its unusual shapes and materials allow the public to explore it, participate in football matches and rethink the rules. the artist’s project invites four weeks of tournaments, over a period covering the artist residency and beyond.’ benedetto bufalino’s LABY-FOOT was curated by christine walentiny and katrijn van damme and realized in partnership with kirchberg fund. the interactive installation is located near the city’s la coque sport and cultural center.
