denmark-based artist benjamin nordsmark reminds us that life is not that innocent by putting together two ordinary items. replacing the third wheel of kids bike with a saw, the artist surely ruins this idealized world.

‘growing up with a father, who was a lumberjack, for eighteen years of my childhood, I got inspired by his machinery to create a piece that would illustrate the changes you go through getting older,’ says nordsmark. ‘as a kid, you often tend to have this image of the world and your parents as being perfect, but as you grow older, you realize that it’s not the truth.’

the sculpture is on show until june 9 in field projects gallery in NYC as part of a group exhibition ‘typical america’.
