‘the arc hypothesis’ is the title of french artist bernar venet‘s work on view during the venice art biennale 09. iron and steel, heated, cooled and shaped through the artist’s gestures form large lines which make us think of the rigid stringency of the arc via mathematical associations. they define themselves in scientific relations, formally in free order, which depending on one’s aesthetic position and the reception that has been passed, can be perceived and understood as disorder. curated by ewald stastny, a presentation was by museum arterra contemporary in partnership with the MKM and the foundation of for art and culture bonn and the wurth collection – frederik meijer gardens & sculpture park.
