‘fragmentation’ by bohyun yoon, 2004 (live models, plexiglas mirror)

korean artist bohyun yoon aims to explore the human body in light of cosmetic surgery and cloning with this piece titled, ‘fragmentation’. the installation features two live nude models, one male one female, who lay on separate white platforms. the models are covered with four mirrored pieces of plexiglas each. these mirrors are cut-out to form right around their bodies, reflecting the models body parts. these reflections depict infinite truncated legs, torsos and arms. yoon explains the intent of the project, ‘this provocative image of the depersonalized body is juxtaposed with the development of modern science that enables people to alter their appearance through surgeries or cloning.’
