on the longest night of the year, british designer bruce munro and a group of supporters rode his latest piece ‘starturn’ to raise money for help the heroes. the structure was comprised of interconnected mechanical components which were all pedal-powered. when a participant would ride the bike, armatures containing tealight candles would spin, creating light rays. covering the instrument was a geodesic dome, defining the space while keeping the riders warm. the event took place on the front yard of the holburne museum and lasted from the night fall until 4:30 am at which point £5, 500 pounds had been raised for wounded soldiers.
