designboom has received images from brooklyn-based photographer henry hargreaves on his latest project ‘burning calories’. influenced by the one ‘real’ way to make the calories burn, the concept reflects on the current state of america’s obesity problem, where healthy weight-loss solutions are overshadowed by corporate malfeasance. ‘ it is not just in the people you see or the depressing facts about the significant health impact on individuals,’ says hargreaves. ‘calorific information, driven by the big brother mandates belief that knowledge is power, making it only inevitable to overcome temptation’.

the entire series of fast-food dishes are made out of cake from a local bakery, created by amirah kassem. even the burger and fries are created using pastries – as they then get set on fire with lighter fluid and a torch.
