for the third time, portland photographer carli davidson entertains animal admirers with a series of hilarious pet portraits, where flying feline fur and wildly wagging tongues become the ‘purfect’ protagonists. more than 130, highly-detailed color pictures of cats in mid-shake comprise make up the newly published book ‘shake cats‘ by harper collins. a varied selection of breeds and ages makes for a host of playful personalities, visible through a stormy spray of spit and stray hairs.

many of the featured felines came from local rescues — ‘before doing the actual shake photo we would get a nice head shot for the rescue to post on their website,’ davidson says. ‘most cats were adopted almost immediately after our shoots and to think that I might have had even the slightest part in that feels amazing.’ take a look at a selection of images from the book below, and a short video showing the shake cats in action.
