in the fascinating, perplexing universe crafted by artist and photographer charlie davoli, forested landscapes are hidden underwater, houses hover above the earth and people swim in pools contained within architectural spaces. the ongoing series of surreal compositions davoli posts on instagram combine an assemblage of photographic visuals and collaged materials, which overlap and intersect to form dreamlike scenes. the images enable the impossibilities of reality, ignoring gravity, physics and the laws of existence — for example, a two-dimensional tattoo embedded into the skin becomes vividly realistic and springs to life; a scuba swimmer dives deep beneath a fluid architectural landscape; and a painting of a bridge leaves its frame and extends into the physical world.

  • at moments very magritte-like

  • Would it not be great to see these images the size of a billboard?! Wild…

  • Wow ! Very cool juxtaposition of realities especially the bent tattoo and bridge through the window images…
