This style of currency folding has been around for YEARS. If you want to see some serious currency art, check out Holton Rower’s work:

the rings are OK, but not very original. Tine De Ruysser and other designers have been working on this idea for quite a long time. See http://www.tinederuysser.com/Site/Welcome.html
Why the negativity? Every time Designboom posts something obtainable rather than elitist there is an outcry. This has a great narrative to it – whether it has been done before or not seems irrelevant to me. Very rarely do we see new innovations these days… everything has been ‘done before’.
I am a child of the 60,s and I knew drug dealers that passed out these rings made of fifty and one hundred dollar bills for Christmas….what is the big deal ? Surely you jest !
People have been making currency rings for many decades. Its nothing new. I am surprised to find on this blog. Instructions are readily found in children’s origami books, and on the web.
I am not negating these wonderful rings…just surprised to find them here on this specific site.
I agree with Moneymaker; additionally, there are others applying this idea in a more sophisticated manner: http://crafthaus.ning.com/profile/DeannaOoley
Beautiful!
Old idea..not a very original thing to post on Designboom…
OMG!
