realized by undo-redo and atelier piccolo

On the occasion of the publication of issue 70 of the magazine Un Sedicesimo, Undo-Redo presents Cyan Magenta Yellow, an interactive installation conceived in collaboration with Atelier Piccolo. Un Sedicesimo 70 is a playful publication with multiple uses where lines, colors and pages mingle in a game of both rules and randomness. A design that winks at Bruno Munari’s ‘unreadable books’ and the intricate patterns of Scottish tartans, the design venture seeks to transpose the overlay of transparencies, colors, and grids created for the magazine into an immersive spatial experience across the atelier in Paris.

a spatial transposition of un sedicesimo magazine

Undo-Redo realizes this transposition by enlarging the pages of Un Sedicesimo 70 published by Corraini Edizioni to a 70×100 cm scale, which is that of the paper used for offset printing. Cyan Magenta Yellow resultingly is a large black MDF structure measuring 6m long and 1m wide, which recalls in its shape and its movement, a printing press. Within, a roll of translucent paper adorned with an interplay of lines, colors, and grids, slides across a backlit surface in the center of the structure. Flanked by transparent plexiglas cylinders it is activated by the viewer by turning a crank. For the installation, the Paris-based graphic design studio collaborated with Fedrigoni France for paper provision and Imprimerie du Marais for printing support in a technical partnership. It will be on display until 2 March 2024

the overlay becomes increasingly varied with the intensification of the grid both horizontally and vertically
