dan perjovschi: late news

the institute for contemporary culture at the royal ontario museum in toronto is currently showcasing ‘late news’ by dan perjovschi, the artist’s first solo exhibition in canada. perjovschi is a romanian-born artist known for mixing drawing, cartoon and graffiti in his pieces drawn directly on the walls of museums and contemporary art spaces.  these drawings are irreverent, often mixing political narratives with social commentary. in february, perjovschi spent six days drawing on the walls of the ROM creating a completely site-specific series of work based on interactions with museum visitors and in response to local media. despite hosting and supporting the work, perjovschi even pokes fun at the ROM’s new michael lee chin crystal designed by architect daniel libeskind.
