spanish photographer david blazquez explores the idea of human furniture in his first solo exhibition at seville’s el fotomata gallery. born in 1980 blazquez studied photography and laboratory techniques. his background in image manipulation shines through in this series which depict various pieces of furniture made from human bodies. in each work of ‘molbiliario humano’, the artist himself appears in the nude, often in multiples embodying the furniture and props in the photographs. the series explores the concept of objects, nudity and the self-portrait. the series includes a variety of ‘furniture’ subjects all shot in black and white including a bathtub, ironing board and floor lamp.
