lost landmarks are digitally inserted in wrong locations

designcrowd, a marketplace for digital and graphic projects, has asked its users to participate in an interesting and imaginative creative challenge — redefine city skylines by mismatching major monuments. ‘we wondered what would happen if we keep the people, keep the trees, and keep the landmarks – but shuffle them around a little bit’ the team at designcrowd describe.

digital artists from across the world sent through their results, providing a look at what cities would look like if their most famous landmarks were swapped with those of other urban places. examples include the statue of liberty rising above rio de janeiro, rather than the city’s christ the redeemer statue; the sydney opera house missing and replaced by rome’s colosseum; and the infamous hollywood sign perched alongside the great wall of china.
