lehmann maupin presents the work of do ho suh on the occasion of the 2013 frieze art fair new york, where the new york and hong kong-based gallery will be showcasing the korean artist’s freestanding polyester construction ‘wielandstr. 18, 12159 berlin’. conceived during his residency at the DAAD artists in berlin program, the architectural sculpture is a life-size replica of the three corridors positioned within the 18th-century apartment that he lived in during his time in germany. ‘wielandstr. 18, 12159 berlin’ is a continuation of the artist’s exploration into site-specificity and the transportation of architectural spaces – his intricate reproductions of places where he has lived – blurring the boundary between private and public realms, allowing viewers to be invited into some of his most personal and intimate spaces.
