this royal college sculptor became fascinated by the long leathery strips  of burst tyres that littered the dusty roads. not without difficulty, he exported a  load of the worn out rubber and used it to make a weary looking palm tree,  a work that was submitted and shortlisted in the 2005 jerwood sculpture prize.
