darwinian voodoo — the new pedigree lifestyle brand by artists fantich & young — presents the ‘apex predator’, a collection of body-art based ceremonial attire. made for the ‘discerning client with the taste for power and exclusivity’, the series of wearable and household accessories are embellished with human hair and bones, and laden with thousands of teeth. perfume bottles, baseballs, codpieces and coat hangers are covered in hundreds of individual teeth, protruding from shoe soles and lining the exterior surface of highly-ornamented ceremonial headdresses. the conceptual pieces each intend to subvert darwin’s theory of evolution and natural selection with supernatural and ritualistic belief systems.

‘darwinian voodoo’ is presented at barrett barrera projects + gallery in st. louis from november 6 through december 23, 2015.
