ferrari camper vans and other imaginary secret cars jump out of mr. françois’ AI photo book

Exploring AI-Generated Secret Cars in 300 Promptographs

François Mercier, also known as Mr. François, presents Secret Cars: 300 Promptographs, a playful book featuring AI-generated images of imaginative ‘secret’ car models. With the help of over 300 prompts, the Brussels-based film director and photographer uses artificial intelligence to bring to life fantastical vehicles that, while fictional, appear strikingly real. Each image is inspired by one of Mr. François’s imaginative ideas, such as: What if Ferrari made a camper van? Or Lamborghini built a school bus? Or perhaps a luxurious six-seater Mini limousine? The result is a diverse collection of creative car designs, captured in realistic settings.

Mr François imagines playful models from famed manufacturers

What if the world’s leading car manufacturers secretly started building completely surprising models? With the help of artificial intelligence, Mr. François embarked on a creative mission to explore this question. Secret Cars: 300 Promptographs emerges as a fun, intentionally humorous journey in which the Brussels-based author, using AI, transforms into a ‘promptographer.’ He trained himself to create images from prompts—short descriptions of imaginary cars. These aren’t photographs in the traditional sense, as they don’t depict reality, but the cars look so real, as though they could or should have existed.

This small-format book is described as the perfect gift for any car enthusiast who dreams of driving a Porsche 911 station wagon or a BMW 2002 truck edition, or anyone curious about car design, pop culture, and AI-generated creations.
