‘step motors’ by process 5 design

the select car shop ‘step motors’, is a conversion of a major car manufacturer’s car showroom to a second-hand car showroom specializing in imported cars

by japanese design studio process5. a second-hand car dealer usually has the perception that it sells old things and its products are of less value than those of a
showroom that sells new cars, making it feel as if a buyer is making a compromise. by incorporating a sales method similar to that of an retail store,
we proposed a select shop that sells cars selected by the second-hand showroom from cars from all over the world.

constructed with 3 L-shaped walls, the showroom displays photos and sports equipment that remind people of going on holiday. bearing a close resemblance to a brick building, we displayed photos and sports equipment that remind people of cars that not normally visible in everyday life. a repair shop was also integrated for after sales services, where a sheet metal shop and a car wash were also built. by proposing a sense of security in a traditional second-hand car showroom, the customer can buy a car without having to feel the pressures of an un-trustworthy company.process5 design: step motors
