italian multi-disciplinary designer francesca lombardi presents ‘doily’. a creative series of masks, each is composed of a single crocheted doily. by re-contextualizing the commonplace object, it can be seen as the perfect adornment for the human face. the fabric becomes a three-dimensional statement, each pattern serving as a decorative element not unlike any accessory. photographer giacomo favilla, documents ‘doily’ in portrait fashion — invoking images of an alternate, but familiar reality.
