majorca-based illustrator gustavo berocan veiga has drawn every letter of the alphabet, including all of the numerals, thematically related to the ongoing FIFA world cup. each football-themed letterform that makes up ‘association ball cup typeface’ relates to either a participating country, type of fan, sports stadium, star player or game-winning move. for example, ‘I’ for italy is made up of a standing andrea pirlo bouncing a ball on the top of his head, and ‘D’ for dribble sees a player kicking the ball between his feet. the project has been created for ‘36 days of type‘, an initiative that asks designers and illustrators to submit their own view on the signs from our alphabet.
