hokusai an animated sketchbook, 1978

in 1978 the animator tony white created this charming animation that briefly details the life of japanese woodblock master katsushika hokusai. famous works by hokusai are animated to a subtle soundtrack and factual (v. old-school) narration. during his life time the japanese artist lived in an impressive 93 locations and produced tens of thousands of works under 30 different pen names.
