during art brussels, atelier relief – a new location for art and design in the belguim captial – invited ionna vautrin, as well as a selection of other designers and artists, to share their visions of relief. first founded in 2015 by farid issa and thomas erber, the space is a triplet of galleries dedicated to exhibitions and the creative and production processes behind them. images, as well as sculptural volumes, are ever-present and ever-moving to provide an intriguing and more interactive format with guests.

on the occasion of art brussels 2017, french designer ionna vautrin converts images to become engaging art forms by playful challenging the social norms of advertising. here, she has sourced the aesthetic codes of commercialism to present ‘triptych’. the mirror, which enhances the display system of urban billboards, rotates its slats to focus the viewer as the image and the advertisement of the space. as an interaction that is poised between industrial design and artisanal expertise, its black border defines the reflection which onlookers can interpret differently.
