situated within the confines of a disused shipping container, ‘I/P/O-cle’ by istanbul-based artist candaş şişman is an installation which simulates the viewer into perceiving a warped reality. toying with the physicality of the layers, variables and cycles that are present in the process of seeing, I/P/O-cle — or I (input), P (process), O (output), CLE (cycle) — changes the viewers sense of space so that they may perceive only a limited portion of the actual reality that surrounds them.

the immersive space is made of a high-strength light source, lenses, a convex mirror, a fog machine and a sound system, installed within a vast and dark container. the light source is positioned in such a way so that the filters through the lenses, hung one after another in succession. as the refracted light reaches the mirror, it transforms the beam and reflects it back into space, as all the while a fog machine makes the dispersed light visible to the eye and a deep base frequency keeps plays in the background. the light and its source describe physical reality and input, the lenses illustrate the various factors of perception and the mirrors channel what is seen.
