james nizam: anteroom series

‘bungalow in a room’ by james nizam (chromogenic print)

vanocuver based artist james nizam turned soon to be demolished homes into room size camera obscuras for his recent series anteroom. the series of photographs document the rooms and the reversed projections of the world outside. each room is left dark with only a small hole in the wall to let light in from the outside, while simultaneously creating an image on the walls. the history camera obscuras dates back hundreds of years and led to early forms of the photography.
