within ‘five Ecom center’ in manila, the philippines, artist JEFRË has installed a series of permanent fixtures that serve both an aesthetic and practical purpose in the office building’s main entrance. the chicago creative has realized six expressionless ‘talking heads’ measuring 6 feet in height and 5 feet in width.

hanging from the ceiling, the sculptures are each made from transparent acrylic panels and wear a different colored headset. visitors wanting to speak to the customer service representatives of businesses located within the complex can step inside any of these heads and communicate with them through a system of built-in speakers. ‘the inspiration came to me from the concept of the unknown workforce, an idea that came to me when I visited the building,’ JEFRË describes. the installation recalls the image of a call center employee and embodies the faceless, robotic voice epitomized by corporate customer service.
