jey alonso creates saturated architecture in surreal photography series

for his latest project, architect and photographer jey alonso has given a surreal twist to a series of known, and not-so-known, buildings across europe. the minimal and heavily saturated snapshots offer a different view from reality and intend to highlight the urban structures that mostly go unnoticed by everyday passersby.

from istanbul’s famous hagia sophia to an unknown mcdonald’s sign in bulgaria, the series by alonso provides a vivid interpretation of the city and of the sky. by transforming the architectural elements and sky into colorful shades of magenta, green and yellow, the images effectively propose that our built environments can serve as a canvas for art. in short, the photographer takes everyday urban dialogues and turns them into something surprising and new.
