a new pasting by jr on the corner of berry st. and south 5 in new york

the semi-anonymous french street artist JR has revealed his latest pasting that can be seen from the williamsburg bridge on the corner of berry st. and south 5, in new york city. the piece is for his ongoing global art initiative the inside out project. known for his large-scale graffiti murals dealing with social justice and human rights issues like freedom and identity, the ocular artwork is for the initiative of which the aim is to give everyone the opportunity to share their portrait and a statement of what they stand for, with the world.

the concept was inspired by JR’s well-known massive ‘pastings’, and provides people from around the world with a chance to make a statement. anyone can take part, and is invited to use photographic portraits to disseminate the untold stories and images of members in their communities.
