each setting depicts a desolate location and a ladder at the center of the photograph. this neutral backdrop allows the vibrant puffs of smoke to take center stage. bursts of yellows, blues and pinks are captured creating a series of unique frames and perspectives. both ken hermann and gem fletcher‘s choice to focus on smoke reveals an appreciation for not only color and form but for their need to bring one’s attention to the simple beauty of these vaporous volumes.
