Vincent Leroy’s Lens Cloud playfully interacts with the Louvre

French artist Vincent Leroy introduces Lens Cloud, a subtle transformation of electronic device lenses into a kinetic cloud within the Louvre courtyard in Paris. Composed of optical lenses similar to those found in projectors and electronic devices, the installation forms a transparent and mobile constellation. The magnifying glasses move gracefully, intertwining, overlapping, and ‘multiplying,’ creating a slow and spectacular undulation. The Lens Cloud challenges perception and engages with its environment while interacting with the architectural elements around it.

optical lenses intertwine to create the mobile constellation

From specific vantage points, the installation harmonizes with the surroundings, blending into the building’s glass and stones. Transparent discs catch and reflect natural light, responding to the hues of the Parisian winter sky. Alternately, when viewed from different angles, the constellation of magnifying glasses refracts and transforms the architecture into a kaleidoscopic and poetic vision, extending Leroy‘s exploration in the realm of lens-based installations.
