‘modische atlas der anatomie’ by koen hauser

dutch artist koen hauser has created a series of digitally tailored artworks entitled ‘modische atlas der anatomie’. the confronting work fuse classic anatomical models with human bodies, blurring the line between a science experiment and reality.

the pieces articulate contrasting elements – images depicting hands resting calmly on a knee are exposed to reveal tendons and bone, a skull gaping with grey matter. the work is representative of hauser’s technique, in which he often spurs the squeamish side of his audience with startling scenes.
