french photographer laurent laveder has composed a series of whimsical and playful photographs which use the moon as a prop in imaginative landscapes. ‘moon games’ is an ongoing collection of images comprising an outdoor setting and a few, humble materials. making use of either full, half or crescent moons, laveder arranges a human subject to interact with the ephemeral and ever changing scene in the sky, positioning the model so that an interplay exchanges between the natural panorama and the mortal counterpart. an example includes a photo in which the industrial framework of a floor lamp sits on the surface of a grassy plane, while a brightly-lit setting sun hovers just above the spot where a glowing light bulb would be placed. a second illustration sees a massive moon overhead and the pictured model using her legs to seemingly lift it into the air. the dream-like layouts transform the floating celestial body into an unexpected object, playing with the reality of the scene and bringing a spirited sense of curiosity to the vista.
