cologne-based artist heike weber has sent designboom images of her latest permanent marker artwork she completed for a cafe in prague entitled ‘bodenlos’ –which literally means ‘loosing the ground under your feet’.  the installation strays from the traditional avenues associated with the artistic discipline of sculpture by using a very common and available tool – a marker, and through meticulous and labour-intensive applications of the instrument, weber manages to create another world. weber transforms a space into a three-dimensional sheet of paper, flooding walls, floor and surfaces with graphic interventions – injecting a powerful energy through creeping strokes and lines. she hijacks an area through the humble medium of illustration, engulfing the atmosphere with mesmerizing force – commanding an interaction, a response.
