rapidly changing technologies result in the reality that even high-tech tools from a few years ago could easily soon be, or already are, obsolete. these cassette players, floppy disks and flip phones, to name a few, are now relics of the past and induce a welcome sense of nostalgia upon having the chance to see and interact with them again.

julien knez, aka golem13, brings one of these disused technologies to the present day. knez has realized a series of VHS cover art for popular, current movies and TV shows, using the typography of the time and ‘retro’ graphics that are perfectly dated in their design. the video sleeve art for series like ‘game of thrones’ and ‘breaking bad’ and films like ‘interstellar’ and ‘the wolf of wall street’ feature the original cast, completed in a composition that recalls 1980s-style visuals.

  • These are so good! So well done. They definitely got my nostalgia tickled
